Gofluo is een Antwerpse startup opgericht door Julie Vets.
Julie startte haar carriere als product developer & styliste bij FNG & Fashion Club 70.
“Als jonge moeder was ik vaak bang dat mijn familie en ik niet zichtbaar genoeg waren in het verkeer. Maar een fluohesje zag ik ook niet zitten. Ik probeer mijn kinderen steeds mooi te kleden. Een mooie jas met een lelijk fluohesje er over, dat is toch zonde.”
Hoewel Julie helemaal mee is met de nieuwste trends, vond ze nergens een oplossing voor haar probleem. Overtuigd dat reflecterende accessoires wél leuk en modieus kunnen zijn, besloot ze zelf aan het ontwerpen te slaan!
Ready, set, go!
Tijdens haar tweede zwangerschap in 2016 ontwierp ze haar eerste kindvriendelijke hesjes met gemakkelijke houtje-touwtje sluitingen, coole prints en leuke decoratieve elementen zoals bloemen. Velcro-Tape vermijdt ze ten alle tijden.
“Onze schoenen, jassen,.. kiezen we allemaal zorgvuldig uit. Waarom doen we dat niet voor reflecterende accessoires? Zo bleven mijn kinderen steeds in de klittenband van hun hesjes haken met hun truien en sjaals. Daarom zal je nooit velcro-tape vinden in mijn ontwerpen. Een fluohesje kan je leven redden en aangezien je het dagelijks draagt, mag het echt wel aan enkele wensen voldoen.”
Twee jaar later werden haar ontwerpen goedgekeurd en ontving ze officiële CN 1150 certificaten. Eén maand na de bevalling van haar derde kindje, mocht ze met trots als eerste een collectie met modieuze fluohesjes lanceren.
Haar project groeide al snel uit tot een succesvolle onderneming. Om grotere hoeveelheden te kunnen produceren, zocht ze naar investeerders. Met dank aan Flanders DC vond ze haar business match bij Hendrik Winkelmans van de Freshmen group.
More than just a pretty picture
voor haar tweede collectie ontwierp ze functionele hesjes voor volwassenen. Handige kappen, zakken, lange rugzijdes,.. Ze implementeert zelfs dubbele ritsen, die extra handig zijn tijdens het fietsen. Bestsellers als Darkflow & Darknight worden in deze fase ontworpen, en zijn tot op heden nog steeds heel populair.
Plots gingen ook sportievelingen onze hesjes dragen. Daarom ging Julie op zoek naar een reflecterende, geperforeerde, stretch stof die goed ademend. Haar slimme ontwerpen zijn perfect voor je workout. Voor echte fietsfanaten ontwierp ze model Darkchamp. Dit hesje is geïnspireerd op het regenboog-truitje dat gedragen wordt door de wereldkampioen wielrennen. Eind 2021 lanceren we onze eerste volledige sportlijn.

We wanted a name comprehending what we are about. GOFLUO, says it all. We want you to go-go-go, and stay visible always.
We’ve created this brand for go-getters with a positive mindset. For those who are unstoppable, who show up early, be home late and keep beaming everywhere in between.
Our slogan “show up” embraces our philosophy completely.
We aim to be your biggest supporter. We want to motivate you so nothing and no-one can stop you. That you may go in traffic confident. Through rain, wind, sun and darkness, we want to be a part of your daily route and help you reach your goals. Ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no ally dark enough, to keep us from reminding you to keep going!

In a fun and accessible way, Julie wants to motivate young and old to be visible in traffic.
“Every day, thousands of us hop on our bikes or walk to school and work. We go jogging, walk the dog, or cycle to unwind. On all these occasions we are vulnerable road users. It’s vitally important to wear the right reflective accessories. Gofluo wants to help you turn into an eye-catcher in a fashionable way, and thereby reducing the risk of accidents whilst in traffic. Winter, summer, morning or evening – being visible in traffic is always a must.” Julie explains.

In 2020 Julie expanded her collection with more bodyglowers, jackets & bodywarmers. She hired her first employees.
“I am very excited to build a team. My husband has been a big support in this process but it’s time to “go big or go home”. For the future I hope to sell worldwide, to make our products a success & hopefully save many lives.

Gofluo is on a very exciting journey. For the future we’re expanding our rainwear, activewear and bag collection. “And we never stand still.” Julie explains ”We’re constantly looking at how to upgrade our designs and create more innovative products.” We want to be the go-to brand for everyone who’s on the go. As the micro-mobility movement is growing fast, we’re bound to grow our collection along.
